What is the difference between Craniosacral Therapy, Reiki and Biodynamic Craniosacral?
These three modalities appear to be similar but are not the same, as they each focus on different aspects of health. There is a lot of rich history for each one and their layers of complexity are worth looking into, but for a quick summary, these are the primary differences:
Reiki works with the energetic body using no physical touch and channels universal life force energy to restore balance to the energy field of the body.
Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle manual therapy that focuses on the craniosacral system (the brain, the cerebrospinal fluid, the system of membranes inside the cranium, the 22 cranial bones, the spine and the sacrum) to support the body’s natural healing processes.
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is an evolution of Craniosacral, also tuning into the craniosacral system; and is a client-led gentle touch, non manipulative modality that works with the whole person – acknowledging that emotional, mental, spiritual and physical health are all interconnected. The primary belief in this modality is that health is always available because the body holds a natural intelligence and knows how to facilitate self repair.
What does “biodynamic” mean?
The term “biodynamic” refers to the dynamic relationships that exist between organisms, their physiology, and their environment; and the science dealing with the energy or activity of living organisms.
In Craniosacral Biodynamics, “biodynamic” refers to the wide perceptual field used in this practice. The “biodynamic” lens used in BCST provides context and holds consideration of the whole person. Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy considers all factors of a persons experience (past present and future) and carries this awareness in and throughout each therapeutic experience.
Why are BCST sessions offered at sliding scale rates?
My BCST practitioner training is in progress and practice is a fundamental element to my learning. While I am in my foundational training for Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, all payments for BCST go directly toward training tuition, bills to keep my session studio running, and help me afford to make space in my schedule to offer affordable calm and compassionate touch therapy to my community.
BCST sliding scale is $35-80. Pay what you can within this price window. No questions asked.
What can I expect in session, generally?
In a Biodynamic Craniosacral session I will tune my awareness into you from a wide field of perception, and serve as an anchor and detailed observer, helping you to be able to enter a state of complete presence. (This can happen in silence or can be assisted with dialogue, as needed.) Presence offers an opportunity for embodiment and somatic awareness. Presence can bring previously hidden, missed or repressed information to your awareness, and is an opportunity to shift, re-pattern and/or release these points of stagnancy or inertia within you. With grace and openness, together, you + me + the inherent healing forces within your body, will begin to clear and resolve lodged energy from your system, allowing for circumstances of change.
Biodynamic session experiences vary. Common feedback I have received and witnessed during and after sessions includes: feelings of deep relaxation, total presence, new feelings of embodiment and somatic awareness, dream-like states, revelations through various states of consciousness, somatic shifting, energetic and emotional releases, a deeper understanding of self.

What happens if memories I don’t want to revisit, pop up during a session?
Orienting back to natural alignment, or health, is most effective when we slow down and allow our mind+body+heart connections guide us. By honoring the body’s inherent wisdom, it is possible to unwind the neuromuscular and psycho-emotional patterns that reinforce pain cycles without reintroducing overwhelm.
BCST sessions are rooted in Titration and Resourcing. Titration, in essence, means “slow and steady”; and is the allowance of shifting between discomfort and support/relief as needed to move into a new pattern. Titration is achieved through Resourcing. Resourcing is found in present moment awareness and by identifying and naming supportive tools that can be utilized during and outside of BCST sessions for on going integration.
Changes that occur in session can be both physiological and psycho-emotional. Flashes of insight, memories and energetic or emotional releases are common in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, as areas of stagnancy or inertia within the body are often associated with existing mental connections/neural pathways.
BCST sessions are spacious and gentle, always supporting a slow and steady rhythm of adjusting, as to not reintroduce overwhelm. BCST is about allowing the innate wisdom of your body make the natural adjustments needed to help shift your system back toward natural alignment. Energetic and emotional sensations/movements are listened for, encouraged and supported in sessions. You are always safe to verbally, emotionally and physically express anything that comes up in session. Acknowledging and releasing is part of the shifting and re-patterning that takes place in BCST.
What about the privacy of my personal information I share and experience in session?
All information; verbal, physical, emotional, spiritual and beyond stays between you and I. Your privacy is important to me. No matter what our personal or community relationship is, your information is confidential and does not leave the session room. I treat all client information disclosed during sessions in compliance with HIPAA, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
Do you offer massage therapy?
Yes, I am a Licensed Massage Therapist and massage therapy is offered at Of Earth And Ether. You can book a massage therapy session with me through service booking.
Who do you work with and can anyone book a session?
A prerequisite for all clients is curiosity in self-exploration and an openness to possibility. All clients must be aware that this practice provides a container of safety and spaciousness for mental, physical, emotional and spiritual shifting to occur and that change is a common result in this practice.
At this time, most of my clients are by referral through direct or indirect community connection. I am open to and interested in taking new clients without referral and require a consultation before booking to see if working together is a good fit.
Please email ofearthandetherstudio@gmail.com if you would like to schedule a consultation.
How frequently do we meet?
Session frequency will vary from person to person and circumstance to circumstance. Consistency is an important piece to the therapeutic process. Together we will decide what will work best.

What is your experience in this field of work?
I began training to become a Licensed Massage Therapist in 2018; completing 500 hours of study and hands on experience in subjects such as Anatomy and Physiology, Pathology, and Kinesiology. I have been an LMT since January 2021 and have been working with clients professionally, in a therapeutic capacity since then.
Before moving into the field of bodywork, I spent many years studying and exploring practices and mediums such as: The art of ritual, Astrology, Human Design, Herbalism, Ancestral Communion, Tarot, Palmistry, Dance, Writing, Music, Weaving, and Mixed Media Arts. I still use and resource in most of these mediums today. Each one provides a unique outlet of expression and revelation, and brings joy and value to my life.
Because of this background, I have maintained a keen and continuous interest in areas of expression and perception. The preservation of my creative and sensitive nature lends itself to sensing subtleties- both energetic and material, and proves to be incredibly beneficial within the therapeutic relational field.
Out of curiosity and a pursuit of deeper learning, since becoming an LMT, I have studied various related therapies. Studies spanning from: energy work, trauma-informed care, grief and death support, reflexology, movement therapy, equine assisted therapies and equine massage, aromatherapy to restorative yoga.
I have been studying the foundations of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy with Scott Zamurut and Teena Walker since August of 2023, and feel very aligned with the philosophies and perspective of this practice. My Foundational BCST training is still in progress, unfolding until Fall of 2026.
What is your preferred name?
A lot of my massage clients know me professionally as “Kasey” because it is my formal/legal spelling and what appears on my licensure, but “KC” is my preferred way of writing and sharing my name.
To me, “KC” is a reflection of my deep introspective work and attunement of self over the years. This short and sweet spelling of my name cuts to the heart of how I feel in my essence and how I share myself in the world. It feels more energetically precise and is my preference.
What is your astrological make-up?
Through the lens of western astrology, my big three is comprised of:
Virgo Sun (mutable earth), Cancer Moon (cardinal water) with my Ascendant in Aquarius (fixed air).
This cosmic imprint rings true in my experience of self and perception of the world around me. I find this combination extremely beneficial in sensing subtle energies and material shifts, as well as seeing information along the spectrum of micro and macro, helping me sense both acute and systemic patterning.
